Whether you are looking for a remote trout stream for fly fishing, want big Lake Superior action, are waiting for the Fall salmon and trout run or want to put your boat into an inland lake, the opportunities are here.
Anytime after mid-August, lake run trout and salmon begin their river runs to spawn. The Black, Montreal and Presque Isle rivers will all hold brown, rainbow and lake trout and coho, pink and king salmon.

Upstream is fly fisherman's country. Inland trout season opens late spring and closes the end of September.

If you bring your boat, Lake Gogebic is only 20 minutes away. Lake Gogebic is the U.P.'s largest inland lake... 17 miles long and 2 miles wide. Fish for walleye, jumbo perch, northern pike and bass.

The Cisco Chain of Lakes, near Watersmeet, contains 15 lakes and over 270 miles of shoreline. In a small boat or canoe, fish for trout, musky, walleye, northern, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and panfish.

Over 500 named lakes and nearly 2,000 miles of river and stream await the angler in the Ottawa National Forest. Stream fishing is available throughout the Forest, and lake fishing is concentrated in the southern half of the area. See the Ottawa National Forest Recreation Fishing Guide for more information.

The Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park offers 20 miles of Lake Superior shoreline, miles of rivers and streams and several inland lakes. Download the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park Fishing Information Guide.
